When you receive your blank board in the post, go ahead and have a play - slap some paint on it, collage it a bit, do some drawing or doodling, whatever takes your fancy – you’re not looking to make a finished piece, just make your mark on the canvas somehow

Then on the 15th of the month, post it on to the person below you in the list (only the board, you can keep the easel at home… )

The next person will add their mark to it – adding more layers – partially obscuring what’s gone before – partially enhancing it

And then the following month they will send it on

And so on and so forth

Players 1,2,and 3 for each canvas should mainly concentrate on backgrounds, in the latter stages of each painting you can maybe start thinking about adding focal imagery or words, if you wish, or keep it completely abstract – anything goes!

Then in mid October, if everything goes to plan, everyone will get a finished canvas back with lots of luscious layers and details peeking through

The process will teach us to let go – once the canvas is out of our hands someone else might paint right over that lovely drawing of a cat we did in the corner that we were so proud of

It will also teach us to be brave – if that drawing of a cat in the corner is spoiling the balance of the canvas as it develops, let’s go ahead and paint right over it!

The end result might not even quite work – but even if it doesn’t – we’ll have learnt a lot in the process, and hopefully had a lot of fun.

And let’s go ahead and display it on its easel anyway :) It’ll be a conversation point if nothing else!

So who wants to play?

The details:

Host – Sarah/Flo
Sign Up Deadline: May 1st
Start Date: May 15th
Subsequent posting on the 15th of every month
End Date: October 15th

Please edit yourself onto the yellow list if you would like to be a part of this little experiment….
