UNEXPECTED MAIL ART FROM DONNA

A while ago (actually an absolute age ago), I was the lucky recipient of one of Donna's mail art pieces, not because I'd added my name to the mail art list, just because she wanted to send me a piece, I adored her typewriter stamp that she'd created!  Awesome stuff - thought I would share it, I love mail art - thank you Donna!

Look what was waiting to welcome me back from my hols.....

.... a fantastic piece of mail art from the lovely Donna :)

I had admired her brilliant typewriter prints on her blog and she was kind enough to send me one

Thank you so much Donna, it was great to have this waiting on my doormat when I got home from the airport

Mail Art from Donna and Kyla.

I was the lucky recipient of some great mail art last week which cheered me up now end. The first one was from Donna and it had a little pocket that survived the postal service.

It also had this little instruction to rip it and then there was a very cool postcard within it as well. It's given me  some great inspiration for future mail art. I just never thought about the interactive elemental before.

I then got this great card from Kyla and it's colours are lovely. The pop of teal is great. It was really cheery to find it among the mail on the floor when I came downstairs. It stood out straight away.

Thank You Ladies.x
Happy Birthday Collabor-Artists!

Mail Art - Virginia

Happy Easter Sunday everyone, and for those not working today I hope you have been able to get inky.

Mrs Postie brought me my first mail art from Virginia this weekend.

A mixed media collage with inks, papers, stamps and I think some hand drawing round the stamped circles.
I have now stuck it up on my craft room wall for inspiration-thanks Virginia.

I have Sonja next in the mail art....this will be the first time I have sent anything out so I am not sure how to find out Sonja's address...if your reading this, can you contact me with your address and I will get my mail art in the post?

Many thanks

Kyla

INcoming and OUTgoings ( donnalouiserodgers)

Pat and I agreed to do a mail art exchange when we mailed out our exquisite corpses,  she sent me a beautiful waxed postcard, the colours composition and detail are exquisite, thank you hugely Pat,

and by coincidence I  have today mailed Sherry both my corpse (so to speak) and Nigel's CJ, though it may not arrive until Tuesday?

I also mailed out mail art x4: one for Pat, one for Sonja, one for Virginia, and one for Sarah, I have been just so silly busy with work that it has been an absolute pleasure to be able to do postcard sized stuff for people,

mostly now I am making babies....and thinking about the torso of pats corpse

He arrived safe and sound and in tact, the colours are fantastic!!!
This is the back and yes it is on corrugated cardboard!  Had a couple of comments about the Biohazard stamp Sarah and people being astounded that it came through the post with that on LOL!

He now has pride of place on my craft table - love him!

Now it's my turn to create some mail art, I've actually got a stack in hand, but fancy doing something new mmmmm - just wondering what at the moment!

Mail Art Trail - incoming!!!! x 2 and a half

It has been a while since I last took part in the Mail Art Trail, and I recently signed up twice in fairly quick succession, before and after Donna, so that we could swap with each other

Here are the cards I received back from the trail

First off, this fantastic mini art quilt from Pam:

Isn't it fantastic?? I'm so pleased that it made it through the postal service intact, it must have raised some eyebrows on the way through :)

And secondly these two gorgeous cards from Donna, which came via an unplanned detour to Scotland - thanks for sending them on, Sonja!

The top card is the "real" one - a beautiful original painting, I love it!  The second card Donna described as a "cheat" as it is one she has had printed from one of her paintings, but I am very glad to receive it as I have seen a couple of these tucked into the Desert Island Discs CJs as they go round, and I was rather hoping I would end up with one for myself :)

Mail Art - Vicki

I received this scrummy postcard from vicki for the mail art trail. My rubbish scan does not do it justice at all - the colours are just confectionary cute. Thank you Vicki. It also has some great stamps on the back - I need the one that  says "THIS IS ART because I say so"!

Mail Art Trail

Mr Postie has delivered two fab postcards this week for the mail art trail. The first is from Karen and I love the quote. I'm planning to take it to work for my desk I think so I can have a smile on a rough day.
The send is from Rebecca and it arrived very quickly from France having stood up to the postal service well. The background is great and I have been having a good study of it so I can recreate it. In fact I have been doing that with both the cards. It's nice to see these things up close in the flesh for inspiration.
Thanks you ladies for the lovely mail.

MAIL ART FROM CLARE

Jez here:  I received Clare's Mail Art Postcard, with its embodiment of this year's Autumn:

It's just like the kind of autumn we've been having - lovely deep colours - and then when the sun shines on it, or I put on the light, it really sparkles like the odd sunshiny days we get now and then.

I'm really pleased with it, and it will go in the sketchbook I keep for cards and paintings I receive from other artists, so that I always know where it is.   Thank you Clare.      Jez

a Donna Disc Thing

Virginia sent me ( donna louise rodgers)  her desert island disc box and hoped that as well as selecting a track and doing a 'page, ' that I might also add to the cover/box.  So I masked off and sprayed.

took out a piece of cardboard substrate,

listened to the tracks and had a good look at what Virginia had done:

Then I set to work on my contribution:

Gesso applied ( x3 layers)  sketched and shaded with Graphite a  life study of pregnant lady,
inked,
waxed,
 hole punched
integrated style so it works alongside  Virginia's  own page
I added my 'famous face' postcard as a signature piece - you can see it nestling in the lid
on the back of the reclining nude - I wrote the lyrics and the reason for the choice of track, stamped and embossed my rapture stamp (available from the artistic stamper) -
then protected the work with  freezer paper and tissue

 it's a wrap
 details:  Santana Smooth

hope you like it V

dxxxx

I will mail onwards on Wednesday...and update the mailing list when it goes.

Incoming Mail Art from Jez

Woohoo!!!  Look at this amazing postcard that was on my doormat tonight when I got in from work.

Thank you Jez, it's brilliant! All hand drawn.  I bet my postie loved it too!

It's big - about A5 size - and really sturdy - puts my little flimsy postcards to shame :)

(and no, Donna, I haven't forgotten I owe you one, will get on with it this week, promise)

Here's the back:

Thanks again Jez, I really love it

Better late than never!

This is the fab postcard that I received from Sarah last month ... I am only getting round to blogging it now (sorry!)  The day it arrived, it was raining very heavily and I just left my house when the postman was approaching - "Are you Karen?" he asked, I said yes and he handed me my card ... he had been reading it as he was walking lol !!  It managed to survive the downpour and is very appropriate for the day ... thanks Sarah :D

Pam - yours is on it's way :)
