Sami and Sue pair journal update

Here are the latest pages that I have done or added to in Sue's Journal.

Sue had used pattern paper on this page and had stuck in the envelope pattern. I added the rusty scissors, the dolls head, the gruesome blood and the skull faces on the 1950's housewives.
I used a stamp of a dressmakers dummy that I had made a while ago and added the dolls heads to the top (Sue loves doll heads!) I also added the words which I printed on the computer and the quote on the back of the ruler (which Sue sent me) which I attached with tape measure washi tape.
On this page I added the castle, the cloud and moon and the bat
This was one of my pages and Sue added some brown paint. This time round I added some more words using letter stickers and the stars, using a stencil.
Sue sent these beautiful wings so I used them with a piece I cut from a magazine and some red tissue paper. I printed words onto masking tape using my printer. On the right hand side i painted with acrylics then added postage stamps that Sue had put in the little envelope on the page and then I added some prints I had done with my Gelli arts plate.
I used washi tape to attach them on one side only so that they can be lifted up.
I added 'cracks' over the dolls head that Sue had stuck down. I then found some 'creepy' doll pictures to add to the right hand side. I added some rub ons and the flyer from an event I went to in October called 'park of the dead'. Sues theme for her journal is 'Alphabetical' so I decided to just write about the event to fill the rest of the page.
Sue had added the ravens to this page so I added a piece of poetry by Edgar Allen Poe printed onto tissue paper and three black feathers.
Sue sent some fab skull serviettes so I used one of them on the left hand side, stuck down with gel medium. The starts were from a stencil. I stamped little skeletons onto tickets for the right hand side and added a rub on and thickers for the wording.
On the left hand page I stuck down some remnants from some Gelli art prints and added the backing from some alphabet stickers. The image of the woman in the test tube I cut from a magazine and the rain drops are the little left over bits from the letter stickers. I added some little bird rub ons to Sue's page on the right.

Sue's journal is full now so we have agreed to finish this project. It has been great working on someone else's pages and seeing someone else's work 'in the flesh' as it were. I was really scared to add anything to Sue's pages to start with but once I got into it I really enjoyed it and it has been a great learning curve. I thoroughly recommend taking part in one of these pair journal collaborations!

Sam and Sue Pair Journal

Finally I have managed to get some more work done in my pair journal! I managed nothing over the entire 6 weeks school holidays, so thought it was about time I got something done.I was working in my journal this time and the theme is 'round and round'.

I added the freaky skull like drawing to this page with Indian ink and a few more words.
Some doodling of seed and pod heads
Sue had done this page with the fab googly eyes. I added the speech bubbles and some red circles in the background.
I loved this magazine image, I thought she looked like a giant sea anemone.
Sue had started this page with the yellow background and the journalling spots with black stems. I added the word flower (which I am not to pleased with, I may have to paint over that!) and the little leaves to the stem, some washi tape 'grass' and darkened the background with ink and a flower stencil.
Another of Sue's started pages. I added the clock hands, the stamped clock and 'time flies' image on tissue paper and the words.
I had done the background on this page with paint left over from another project and then added a spider web and dandelions and some journalling.
I used printed scrapbook paper for the background on this page, covered with paint and stencilling then added the balloon from an old book page and a compass and the letter stickers.
Sue had started this page off with some yellow cogs so I just continued on that theme, layering up with masks and ink and stamps on tissue paper and then outlined the cogs to make them stand out.
Another of Sue's pages. I added the ruler stamp, tape measure washi tape and gave it a very light wash of watercolour.

I will get this in the post to you sometime next week Sue.

Sue and Sami pair journal

Hi There!
Just a quick update on Sue and Sami's pair journal.
This is the second time I have had Sue's journal with me. It's taken me a bit longer to get things done in it this time as I have been AWOL with work...sorry Sue!
Sue's journal theme is 'Alphabetika'.

I added the tree stamps to this page...I wanted to add a spooky house or something but I couldn't find a good image!

Sue had made a mini journal which slips in the pocket on the left. I added some morse code for her to decipher.
On this page I started with sticking down book pages and gessoing over the top, then I used paint and ink sprays for the background. I printed off this Iconic image of the Jabberwocky and drew over it with pen. I cut it out, added it to the page and then wrote the words of the poem around it.

A witchy page, with some deciphering needed. I used paints, inks, tissue paper and homemade stamps on this page.

I added the parrot with the skull face from magazine clippings and did the title out of washi tape.

I used a magazine image as a mask on this page, loads of room for adding stuff.

This was Sue's braille page. I love the texture of it and didn't want to cover that up so I just added some stamps down one side, a bit of red chalk ink and then I cut up a postcard I found in a magazine and layered it up on the opposite page.

I used the headlines from my local paper for the base of this page then added gesso, red paint, a text stamp, washi tape and a skeleton image I found in a magazine.

I loved this page of Sue's so I have just added the hand carved 'confidential' stamp and raven stamp and the little dancing skeletons round the edges.

I will get this back in the post to you on Monday Sue.

Sue and Sam journal

I made this page with printed tissue in the background, added the figure and he just seemed to be saying "sshhhh" to me!

I added a pocket to this page with a printed paper bag.....................

Sam sent me some note book pages with "note to self" and "pro and con" on them.....I used them to make an extra little journal that fits inside the pocket.........

I added alphbet tabs to the edges of the pages.

Finally I glued some braille paper to these pages and brushed over some gesso.
Over to you Sam!!!

Sue and Sami-pair journal update

Just a quick update on our pair journal.

Sue had added doilies to this page. I wanted to try and bring out the detail of them so used watercolour paint which didn't really work, then went over them with oil pastels. I hand drew the dream-catcher and have left space for Sue to add to it if she wants.

This page is a mix of brown wrapping paper, scrapbook paper, spray ink, acrylic ink and texture paste.

Water colours and stencils and plenty of space for adding stuff.

Sue had done the text background and the border on this page. I have added circles of texture paste and drizzled acrylic ink down the page.

I loved the 'holey' pages that Sue created and to me it looked like a tunnel leading into a dark magical place!  I added the trees to the right hand side with inktense pencils. I wanted some sort of pop up images so I stamped some hares, birds and a mushroom on plastic with  black staz-on and left a little tab on each to attach to the back of the page.
On the left hand side I used a tree stencil and Dylusions inks, more texture paste through a leaf stencil and some acrylic paint. I have also started a bit of a story here which I am hoping Sue will add to!
It reads:
the harvest moon hung like a golden disc as she stumbled in circles, lost in the woods. She was afraid for she did not know what she would encounter...in the deep, dark woods.

Ready when you are to swap again Sue!

Sue and Sam journal

When I got my journal back from Sam she had made this page in it..........

 it now looks like this!

The main thing I added was this frog who seems to have something wrong with his eye!!
There is still plenty of room for Sam to add more if she wants!
