Introducing Sam

Hi! My name is Sami. I am 37 years old, married to Stewart and I have two kids and live on the Isle of Wight.

I have always been interested in art and crafty things, as a child I was always drawing and painting and then I went on to do Fashion design at college. After college life sort of got in the way and the only creative output I had was helping my kids with school craft projects and making their costumes for school plays!

I started getting crafty again in 2000 when I started making quilts and textile art. From there I moved onto card making and scrapbooking and in 2010 I discovered the world of art journaling.
I used to be quite a perfectionist with my drawings and paintings but art journaling has enabled me to loosen up, experiment and just play around without worrying about the end result. For me it's the process of creating, getting messy and just enjoying it! It has also led me back to painting on canvas again where I like to use pagan, fantasy and spiritual images.
I don't feel I have found my style yet but I use my journal as a way of getting things off my chest and putting things into perspective. It's an outlet for stress and a form of relaxation.

I love using acrylics, spray inks, stencils and texture paste. I like to play with collage but just can't seem to get the hang of it! I like to make my own rubber stamps to use in my journal as well.

Well, that's me! You can find my blog, Luna, here if you want to take a peek!

I just want to say thanks to Sarah for inviting me to the site, I am really excited to be a part of it.
