D&V PAIRS JOURNAL

Morning all, well we've had a bit of a gap since we last posted our pairs journal to one another it must be just over a week, maybe touching two weeks.  I received mine back from Donna and took it away with me, but found that I really wasn't in the right zone for creating, thankfully that all changed when I got back, but as usual most of my pages have ended up more bases than completed pages, but that's the joy of these pairs journal - no need to actually finish a page until you think it might actually be finished. So I'm hoping Donna will enjoy adding to my book when she receives it back because we're about to swap again which is always fun.

Finding what Donna has done in her book or my book when I receive them is always like a book of secrets, I'll turn a page and ooh and aah over what she's done, all the additions, sometimes they are tiny but because we've become familiar with each others book it's easy to spot any change that has occurred.

Mine is feeling a little more weighty now and definite getting full, but I have some book rings that are even bigger should they be required at some point, however, for now they are still holding up!  Because mine are on book rings, I tend to take the pages out to work on, the thing with this is that the pages never go back in the same order!

So here are my additions, the burnt page now has some 'flames' added into it, I had fun playing with paint on this one.
A stretched landscape of Lowther Castle that I visited whilst away.  This page took quite a while to create and I started to add some texture to it, the page is completely hidden in my book as you'll see from the holes on either side.
Added some colour to the edges of the page, Donna had started this one by creating the colours in the centre.
This is one of my favourites, a fold out layout, lots of paint, images, layers and stamping, definitely influenced by some of the mixed media we came across whilst on holiday!
 A doodle page
Paint on this page, the book's base is some scrapbook paper I've had forever, I was keen for the book not to take on a completely pinky red look even though that's the base colour of the pages, so when the mood takes me I get out different colours to create a completely different look
Another fun page to create, simple colour washes against the base paper (hence the curling), my new wooden print stamp in white and a swirly black stamp that was free on Craft Stamper.
Can't wait to get my hands on Donna's journal now!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

D here - not long to wait  my ( donna's) book is winging away to you today V... here are some shots of the ongoing pages I worked on this time:
a watercolour tree frog ( my most favorite subject to paint other than humans)

a Lynne Pirella (?) paper artsy stamp thing I did using Lizzie's stamps last week - double stamped onto Letraset anti-bleed paper - sewn together sequined and beaded coloured with Lizzies promarkers then I re drew the face over the stamped image because I preferred it a bit more 'tibetan'

A background ( thanks Jennie for the technique tips)
'love is... a flying pig story'

'boxes'

start of a collage 'sucking too hard on your lollypop'
added words and captions to existing works:

did some sketches using big nibs and fine nibs to get the feel for the different effects on this khadi paper  (it sucks in any kind of liquid/ink/pigment like a desert)

added to existing collage pages

and 'did' (copied shamelessly) Karen Michel - isbn 1-59253-019-2 - get the book 'tis great fun,

see you next round...
