More Desert Island Discs

Well ..... after seeing all the others in this CJ I truly wanted to bin mine and start again :(  To me - it looks complete and utter shoite (I  use this word a lot when talking about my stuff lol)  It seems like everyone else has really made an effort - and mine ? well ... let's just say I am less than impressed.  Anyway - no time to change it and it is all packed up and ready to go to Sian but I shall explain a bit and also share my song list.  I have included 9 pieces of watercolour paper (about 8x8) and I would like you to do anything you want on it, it is your blank canvas so to speak.  Do your piece on the song that you choose by interpreting it however you like.  It can be what the song makes you think about or it can be based on the small write up in my little booklet about why I like it.  Like most people, my songs all have special meanings to me and are not necessarily my 'all time favourite top 10'but I do love them.  Also included are 9 pieces of mountboard - once you have done your work, please stick it to a piece of mountboard as the paper is a bit flimsy and tends to curl a lot !! I am hoping to make a huge piece of wall art when it comes home.

Now that I have done it, I actually HATE my one lol!! It all came about because Tony (my husband) gave me a huge stack of vintage postcards that he bought in Germany in the early 80s and this particular one stood out and seemed to fit the theme of one of my songs ... I also decided to go with a vintage feel for it (something completely new to me!) and the more I look at it -  the more I don't like it so I am glad it is getting sent around the country and maybe in 10 months time, when it comes back and is with everyone else's works ... I may like it a bit more lol

This is the offending article .... followed by my list of songs.  The songs are on the CD in alphabetical order for some reason ... we didn't choose to put them on that way, it just happened  ... also - when you put the CD into your PC, it should also play a video :) (or show the album cover for those that didn't have a video on Youtube!!)

  1. Kaeen - it is absolutely fine to think that way so long as you realise it isn't actually shoite, it's just other peoples work inspires you do try other approaches too - that's the whole point of collaborative art, I promise you everyone will have stuff they 'love' and stuff they 'hate' returned in their journal - that is a fact, but we will all appreciate the work thought time and artwork regardless of it's aesthetic appeal, I cannot wait to adapt your Aves if that is your wish.... chin up dxxxxxx

  3. If I binned everything I did that I thought was shoite, I'd have very little left. Give it time, it will grow on you :)

  4. Adopts her best schoolmaam voice : that's QUITE enough putting yourself down, young lady! Your Ave Maria page is lovely - far better than I could do with the same components (I really can't do vintage, have tried, and failed spectacularly :) )

Cool list of songs, looking forward to my turn!

  5. Karen, this piece fits the song perfectly, I think it's gorgeous! And Nigel is SO right if we binned every piece of work we thought was crap we'd never make anything lol xx

  6. Karen, I had the same thoughts about my page too, but tried not to let it put me off as I really wanted to join in and see what everyone else had done. It's great that everyone seems to have done something different so there'll be tons of inspiration. I think your own page looks great too - looking forward to seeing your journal for real too x

  7. How boring it would be if everyone did the same kind of page! This one is full ofcemotion and a hidden message. Love it.

  8. I find a nice layer of gesso helps if I'm really not loving something and normally it sends me off in a totally new path that I really like. P.S I think that those thoughts are normal you just need to ignore them and get inky. I'm wanting to make a journal like Sarah's now I have got her's here as it's ace so that will be another project. Looking forward to seeing your CJ in real life.
